Description:
In order to connect Marabahan City with Banjarmasin City to improve the economy on both cities, the Government of South Kalimantan Province and Barito Kuala Regency built a 753 meter bridge over the Barito River, named the Rumpiang Bridge.
The center of this bridge is designed as steel arch bridge with 200 meters length and 9 meters wide. Due to the high traffic on the river, the height of this bridge from the river is 15 meters.
For the construction of the steel arch bridge, PT. Hutama Karya (Persero) as main Contractor appointed PT. Waagner Biro Indonesia to design and install the steel arch bridge.
At present, beside being a connecting line for two cities in South Kalimantan province, this bridge has also become an icon and tourism destination that is quite crowded to visit, especially on weekend. This happen because of the beautiful landscape around the bridge and also the curved shape of the bridge that looks magnificent.
The bridge build on 2003 and finished on 2008, and was inaugurated by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on April 25th, 2008
