Temporary bridge Stallegg (Emergency Relief Bridge)
Facts and Figures:
Place/Country: Stallegg/Austria
Completion: 2002
Project type: Panel Bridge
Client: Municipality of Stallegg/Rosenburg-Mold
Description:
Following the devastating flood on 7th and 8th August 2002, a Waagner-Biro emergency bridge (Bailey type bridge, panel bridge) was made available to the village of Stallegg in the Kamp valley in Lower Austria for four months. The old bridge which had connected Stallegg with the state road B34 was seriously damaged by underwashing of the pier foundations. The village was nearly totally cut off from civilisation. On 23rd August, the temporary steel structure was erected by members of the Austrian Armed Forces, enabling the repair works for the old bridge to be completed. The steel emergency bridge had a span of 31.5m and a deck width of 4.35m.
