Description:
A new icon in Central Java Kalikuto Bridge is a 100 meter length steel arch bridge located in Weleri district, Central Java.
The bridge is part of Semarang – Batang Toll Road
The uniqueness of this bridge is the design that uses steel box construction with hangers that are commonly used for cable-stayed bridges.
The reason for using this type of cable is to anticipate the maintenance of the cable that does not disturb toll road activity
The cable can also be replaced strand by strand
Another uniqueness of this bridge is the lowering method installation, where the bridge is divided into two segments, each segments vertically assembled on both sides by being held down by cables, then the two parts of the bridge are lowered together until they meet in the middle of the river.
This system does not need a temporary support in the middle of the river so it does not interfere the Kalikuto river flow.
